ROLE SUMMARY

The Business Data Analyst, within the Innovation and Sourcing Team, will identify and communicate data-driven insights that allow leaders, at all levels across the organization, to make more informed decisions.  The successful candidate will collate, combine, and analyze data, enabling their outputs to turn data into information; information into insight; and insight into supporting business decisions.

The Business Data Analyst responsibilities include conducting full lifecycle analysis to include capturing and documenting requirements, identifying sources of data, analyzing and determining ways to collect and collate required data, and designing ways to present the data in a form that is easily consumed by the target audience.

This is fundamentally a new role within Hays, providing an opportunity for the Business Data Analyst to develop unique insights into data and to support fact driven decision making, including designing new reporting capabilities. This means, however, that there will likely be gaps in data that the job holder will help to identify potential solutions for, in conjunction with other teams (e.g. Finance, IT, and Marketing).  They will also monitor performance and quality control plans to identify improvements.

As a global recruiting company, Hays collects significant volumes of data relating to its clients and candidates, specifically with regards their needs and the various transactions we execute on their behalf.  For our contract market, the candidates are mostly employed by Hays, providing us with the opportunity to engage with them on a regular basis and to monitor key assignment information.

You are the right person if you love manipulating and investigating data, can prepare reports with complex information in a clear and understandable way and if you are excited by the prospect of supporting our leaders and executives in making insightful, data-driven, decisions leveraging the reports you provide.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design and establish a data analytics capability for the Hays US business, with a specific emphasis on Front Office operations
  • Mining data from primary and secondary sources, then reorganizing that data into formats that can be analyzed, and reported on in an easily consumed way
  • Identify key sources of data across the various technology platforms used by the company, working closely with the Finance and IT functions
  • Assist the SVP to develop a vision around leveraging data to for performance reporting, identifying trends, and developing business insights
  • Use statistical tools to interpret data sets, paying particular attention to trends and patterns that could be valuable for diagnostic and predictive analytics efforts
  • Preparing reports for executive leadership that effectively communicate trends, patterns, and predictions using relevant data.
  • Collaborating with other teams (in particular Finance and IT) to identify opportunities for process improvements, system enhancements, and data management and governance
  • Ensure prompt and accurate delivery of analysis in line with agreed frequency
  • Set up and produce periodic performance reporting
  • Work with other parts of Hays US, Hays Americas, and Hays globally, where appropriate, to accelerate establishing this new service
  • Partner with the Hays Americas marketing team around client and candidate attraction and engagement activities

REQUIRED SKILLS & COMPETENCIES

  • Proven working experience as a Data Analyst or Business Data Analyst
  • Degree in a Statistics / Data Analytics / Computing
  • An analytical mind and inclination for problem-solving,  with 3+ years’ of relevant experience
  • Technical expertise regarding data models, database design development, data mining and segmentation techniques
  • Strong knowledge of and experience with reporting and statistical analysis packages, ideally using Power BI or a similar application
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Experience with SQL desirable
  • Attention to detail and adept at queries, report writing and presenting findings
  • Advanced Excel skills coupled with strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and be proactive
  • Capacity to communicate data and complex findings to non-technical audiences
  • Ability to effectively create strong relationships with co-workers across functions and geographies.
