Position Description

The Corporate Counsel is responsible for a wide variety of legal matters that arise in the day-to-day functioning of the company which may include, but is not limited to, contract review/drafting and negotiation, policy drafting, and consulting with business partners on general employment law matters.

Essential duties and job responsibilities include the following

  • Review/negotiate/draft basic client, subcontractor and corporate contracts
  • Notify and consult with back-office partners to ensure company is in compliance with client contracts
  • Update internal records with contract information
  • Interact regularly with leadership team and individual business team members and provide general legal guidance on a variety of matters
  • CCs in the Claims Function may assist GCNA, DGC, CAGC or Sr. AGC with litigation preparation
  • Depending on the assigned Function, a CC may assist Sr. AGC, CAGC, DGC or GCNA and People & Culture with ensuring company is in compliance with laws affecting the business including, but not limited to, mandatory benefits, worker classification, non-discrimination laws
  • Assist Sr. AGC, CAGC, DGC or GCNA in coordinating training for back- and front- office personnel on internal processes and laws/regulations affecting the company
    • Other projects, as assigned
    • Regular job attendance and timeliness/punctuality 

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor and member of Florida Bar or eligible for Authorized House Counsel status; may consider a candidate sitting for the Bar within 90 days of start date.  A candidate not yet a member of the Bar will be in the position of Contracts Specialist until Bar membership is obtained.
  • 6+ months of corporate back-office/legal experience, successful participation in relevant clinics in an ABA approved law school, relevant clerkship(s), or private practice experience representing business clients in civil/business matters. Ideal candidate will have 1-2 years relevant inhouse or private practice experience 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Consultative skills to address inquiries from internal and external clients
  • Must possess solid organizational and interpersonal skills and be detail oriented
  • Demonstrated analytical, organizational, critical thinking and leadership skills
  • Ability to build strong business partnerships

Preferred Qualifications & Experience:

  • Experience in a fast paced, production-oriented environment
  • Commercial contracting skills/experience preferred
