Rikkyo School is a unique school for Japanese pupils in West Sussex. The school follows the Japanese curriculum with a GCSE in Science and a focus on developing English and British experiences. The school is full boarding, for boys and girls aged 10-18. Job overview Rikkyo School is seeking a Deputy Housemaster/mistress (DHM) to join the Boarding team from September 2025. Rikkyo School has 3 Boarding Houses and this role is likely to start in Maple House, a house for around 30 junior boys. The role of the DHM is to support the Housemaster/mistress (HM) in their duties and to have a key role in the supervision of students in the house when the HM is not on duty. This will be a non-teaching position, ideal for those who wish to focus on pastoral education in schools or for gaining experience prior to the completion of a PGCE. The successful applicant is likely to be ambitious, able to make decisions and most importantly, be kind and caring towards young people. The position is residential and the successful candidate is expected to live in the Boarding House. The accommodation provided with this role is a studio flat, comprising of a large bedroom/sitting room, kitchenette and bathroom. The Boarding Houses work on an A/B rota to support staff wellbeing. The DHM will be expected to work in the Boarding House for two shifts during the week (16.00-08.00) and every second weekend (Fri 16.00-Mon 08.00). In addition to this, there will be additional responsibilities at the start and end of each terms and for special events.
