Experienced Innovation Lead required to join UKRI working on the Smart Sustainable Plastic Packaging programme. (Field-based, with frequent UK travel).

Your new role

You will be joining the ISCF team where you will be working on the Smart Sustainable Plastic Packaging challenge, (SSPP), which is focused on establishing the UK as a leading innovator in smart and sustainable plastic packaging for consumer products, delivering cleaner growth across the supply chain, with a dramatic reduction in plastic waste entering the environment by 2025.

Develop and deliver strategic interventions for UK wealth creation in the SSPP programme in line with the team workplan.

Working with business, the research base, the Knowledge Transfer Network, European Enterprise Network, Government Departments, Devolved Administrations, Research Councils, venture capitalists and other key partners to tackle the challenge of plastic pollution in the environment through the development of a more sustainable plastic packaging value chain in the UK.

What you'll need to succeed

Commercial Awareness and proven ability to manage competing priorities to deliver a complex programme to time and budget. The ability to demonstrate achievement of results through influencing skills and negotiations rather than direct control.

You will be degree-educated in a subject relevant to SSPP Challenge alongside a strong background in an area relating to the challenge, namely the plastics, packaging and waste management sectors, with direct experience in designing, building, operating plastics-related technology.

You will also possess a demonstrable experience of liaising with a variety of stakeholders who have competing priorities. This is a field-based role therefore you’ll need to be able to travel across the UK frequently
